Do you want to be “the guy” every time you step onto the basketball court?
Let me reveal the secrets to becoming an elite basketball player.
Do the useful things you don’t want to do
Whatever you don’t want to do is exactly what you need to do.
Is it easy to miss the free honey cake?
Is it easy to drink water when your fridge is full of soda?
The path with the most resistance is usually the one with the most benefits.
Don’t look for relief, look for beneficial inconvenience. For example, no one wants to get up at 5:00 in the morning to do ball handling and shooting drills, but that might be exactly what you need to do.
Doing what is comfortable will not separate you from the competition. Anyone can do what is comfortable but only the best of them are willing to do what is uncomfortable in order to become and stay cool.
Improvement in the eight aspects of basketball
Basketball IQ – Increase your understanding of the game of basketball. How do you do this? You can increase your basketball IQ by playing basketball daily, watching movies of great basketball players, and reading books on basketball skill development and performance.
Shooting – You need to work on improving your jump shot daily. You can’t become a very good shooter.
Ball Handling – If you can’t handle a basketball, you will never reach your full potential. When you are confident in your ability to handle the ball, you will be able to up your game and focus on scoring rather than how to keep the basketball from being stolen.
Defense – Defense is just as important if not more important than offense. Work on your foot speed, your ability to crunch for loose balls, and your ability to stay ahead of the offensive game.
Conditioning – If you’re not into basketball, you’ll appear on the basketball court. I don’t care how good you are, once you get tired you’ll start playing like a scrub.
Vertical Jump – Increased vertical jump makes everything much easier. You will be able to perform more athletic moves, you will get more blocks, more rebounds and you will get more respect from other athletes.
Strength – Strength allows you to dominate your opponents and score at will. The combination of strength, skill and athleticism, makes for a deadly basketball player. Just look at what LeBron James has been able to achieve on the basketball court.
Speed ββand Speed ββ- Your speed and speed will allow you to outrun defenders with a simple crossing motion or hesitating motion. When you are fast on your feet, you will also be able to defend good players who are good at basketball.
Don’t take days off
Be a self-disciplined athlete. Don’t make excuses for yourself, you know you need to practice daily. Every minute you relax, someone is training and getting better than you.
making sacrifices; Don’t watch a lot of TV and don’t play a lot of video games. Be selfless about improving your basketball. Don’t let life’s problems get in the way of your basketball success.
