Can we describe the differences and similarities between different sports such as tennis and basketball? This question seems a little unreasonable, but I will try to make such a comparison and we will see what the result will be.
In my opinion, it’s easy to point out the similarities between these two sports – and there are far fewer of them. Every sport causes harm – and these two popular sports do harm, too. Broken legs or wrists happen as often as other serious injuries. Bruises and scrapes are so common that I don’t even have to mention them.
Basketball is a much more contact sport than tennis. Basketball players fighting each other to make a rebound or steal the ball often push themselves and stay in the opponent’s path. On the other hand – there is no direct contact between tennis players. They only touch themselves at the beginning and end of the match by shaking their hands or even hugging themselves.
The tennis match is mostly held outdoors while the basketball matches are only held in the gyms. Basketball match time is limited and fixed while tennis match time may vary. The outcome of a tennis match is decided after two out of three sets won by a player (sometimes these values look like three out of five).
As you can see (and surely you know) – tennis is a different sport than basketball but it has some similarities as well.
